A Personal Touch
The trend towards customised wedding stationery with a personal touch will continue into 2021 as we see smaller, more intimate weddings take place. Couples are opting for more personal family focused designs that are unique to them. This could be an illustration of the couple with their children & pets, a design depicting their hobbies or a personalised crest uniting their names beautifully paired with pretty blooms.
Florals
Florals continue to be popular. This year, it’s all about watercolours, pretty, whimsical and fun. The soft and elegant look of watercolours can be quite romantic, making it an ideal look for a wedding invitation suite. I think after the year we have just had we will see couples choose colourful fun florals in pinks, purples, blues and greens but soft pastel colours will also be as popular as ever for Spring and Summer. Deeper Tones of Florals and Foliage in plums, greens, golds and jewel tones will be also be on trend for Winter Weddings.
Foliage
Continuing on from florals, I do think they will take on more of a minimal approach for this year with more of a focus on Greenery and Foliage. With smaller weddings a more paired back look will be popular. Smaller Weddings also mean a smaller amount of invites are needed, so I have noticed couples adding little extras such as Vellum Covers, Wax Seals and Envelope Liners to really bring their invitations to another level. The envelope liner is the first thing that guests will see when they open your invitation, which is why they are a lovely finishing touch.
Classic Elegance
Your wedding stationery should reflect your style and if you are not a fan of florals, a more classic elegant design may be more your thing. Choosing to go with a less-is-more approach with a pared-back colour palette, is very timeless and elegant. Beautiful Cream, Ivory or White Papers look crisp and sophisticated against a contrast of a pocketfold or an envelope in jewel tones such as plum, organic green, navy and gold. Fabulous lettering and fuss-free details will give your look a modern and minimalist feel, it’s all about making the right choices and thinking through your look carefully.
Rustic Vintage
As couples are opting for smaller, more informal celebrations in quirky venues, rustic and vintage styles will also continue to be in vogue. Using softly aged colours, Kraft Paper, Vintage Camper Vans, Teapots and Cups, Milk Churns, Bicycles and Bunting with Vintage Florals. Many couples bring in a personalized illustration of themselves in the Camper Van to include some personality and individuality. Relaxed wording has also become hugely popular, couples who are parents are including their children in their invitation wording which is a lovely touch also.
Pantone Colour of the Year
Pantone have released their ‘Colour of the Year 2021’, and this year they have chose 2 colours – Ultimate Gray and Illuminating which is a bright yellow. It is hoped they will convey a message of strength and hopefulness. Pantone say; Together these two independent colours create a strong message of positivity supported by endurance. Grey has been a hugely popular colour in home décor over the last few years so I think we may see it creep in to Stationery design over the next year.
